The ancient and motionless atmosphere that envelops the city of Viterbo was born in the heart of the Europe's largest medieval historical centre, called Neighbourhood of San Pellegrinoand then branches out among the countless quiet alleys citizens. Although even just wandering through streets steeped in history and glimpses of yesteryear makes the experience already unique, the City of Popes offers the visitor additional tourist attractions that you are able to visit in a day on foot or by car.
There is so much to Viterbo to see! Starting from Palace of the Popessymbol of the city (and seat from 1268 to 1271 of the famous conclave which led to the election of Gregory X), via the Cathedral of St Lawrence and the numerous squares, with the characteristics fountainsit will be possible to venture to unique places such as the Etruscan Necropolis or the famous Baths of the Popes, both of which are not too far from the historical centre.
If you have a few more hours at your disposal you will certainly be able to visit some other meta worthy in the surroundings of Viterboyou can choose between Bagnaia, Caprarola, Bolsena, Civita di Bagnoregio, Bomarzo and Orvieto.
